Use this dedicated guide to download the latest Torrento Connect DMG, handle Gatekeeper approval on both the DMG and the app bundle, move the app into Applications, pair it from Torrento on Android, and keep the native menu bar companion updated.
Torrento Connect is the remote-access companion for the Torrento Android app. On macOS, the native companion gives you a menu bar app, direct pairing, torrent client management, and update awareness in one desktop build.
Use this page when you want the macOS path only. If you also need Docker, Linux headless, Android setup, or general troubleshooting, go back to the full Torrento docs hub.

Torrento Connect for macOS is the native desktop companion build. It is the path referenced by Torrento Android when it checks a paired macOS companion against the latest published release.
Install target: plan to run Torrento Connect from Applications. That is the supported location for Start at Login, menu bar persistence, and normal in-app updates.
Install Torrento Connect in Applications on macOS
On a fresh install, macOS can ask you to approve two different things: the downloaded DMG and the Torrento Connect.app bundle on its first launch.
Important: those are separate Gatekeeper checks. Approving the DMG does not automatically approve the app itself.
1. Open the downloaded DMG
Start by opening the latest DMG. If Finder blocks it with a verification warning, approve that exact DMG from System Settings > Privacy & Security, then confirm the follow-up dialogs.
Try opening the DMG once so macOS records the block.
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
In the Security section, click Open Anyway for the blocked DMG.
Click Open Anyway again in the confirmation dialog.
Enter your administrator username and password if macOS asks.
Step 1.1
The first Gatekeeper block can happen on the downloaded DMG itself.
Step 1.2
Use Privacy & Security to approve the blocked DMG.
Step 1.3
macOS asks for one more explicit Open Anyway confirmation.
Step 1.4
Approve with an administrator account when the system prompts for it.
2. Drag Torrento Connect into Applications
Once the DMG opens, move Torrento Connect.app into Applications before you launch it. That is the supported location for login item support, background menu bar mode, and future in-app updates.
Step 2.1
Drag Torrento Connect.app into Applications, then launch it from there.
3. Approve Torrento Connect.app on first launch
After the app is in Applications, launch it from there. On some Macs, Gatekeeper will perform a second trust check on the app bundle itself. If that happens, repeat the same approval pattern, but this time for Torrento Connect.app rather than the DMG.
Try opening Torrento Connect.app once from Applications.
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security again.
Click Open Anyway for the blocked app.
Confirm the follow-up dialog.
Authenticate with an administrator account if macOS prompts again.
Step 3.1
The second Gatekeeper block is for Torrento Connect.app itself.
Step 3.2
Approve the app from the same Privacy & Security section.
Step 3.3
Confirm that you want to open the app even though macOS cannot verify it yet.
Step 3.4
Enter an administrator username and password if macOS requires one more approval step.
4. Confirm the companion dashboard appears
When the approvals are done, the native dashboard should open and show the companion status cards, pairing state, and torrent client management area. From there you can pair it from Torrento Android, add your torrent clients, and keep the app running in the menu bar.
Step 4.1
A healthy first launch ends on the companion dashboard, ready for pairing and client setup.
First-run note: if you launch Torrento Connect directly from the mounted DMG, macOS can treat it as a transient location. Keeping the app in Applications makes the login item and menu bar workflow more reliable.
Pair the macOS companion and add your torrent clients
Once the dashboard is visible, pair the companion from Torrento on Android, then save and test the torrent clients you want the companion to expose remotely. The same macOS companion can be used with qBittorrent, Transmission, and Deluge.
Open Torrento on Android and go to the Connect flow.
Start pairing with the macOS companion.
Add your torrent client in the companion dashboard.
Test the saved client before you import or use it in Torrento.
When a newer macOS companion build is published, the menu bar app can detect it from the same release feed Torrento Android uses. If the tray shows Update Now, keep the app in Applications and let the native updater finish the install and relaunch flow.
If macOS asks for another administrator approval during an update, approve it the same way you would on the first install. The goal is the same final state: the app should relaunch back into the normal dashboard from Applications.
If you want to reinstall manually or verify the latest package, go back to /downloads or use the current direct DMG link below.
These answers cover the most common macOS install and update questions for Torrento Connect.
Why does macOS sometimes ask me to approve both the DMG and Torrento Connect.app?
Those are separate Gatekeeper checks. Approving the downloaded DMG does not automatically approve the Torrento Connect.app bundle on its first launch from Applications.
